3-D
printing might pave the way for exploring new methods of creative and
developing in different fields of interest. I think 3-D printing might have a
large effect on the medical field by exploring new methods of constructing
limbs and organs. The fact that a doctor could simply print out a patients
damaging kidney and give them a false one is fascinating. Also, the fact that
people can make clothes out of printing is super cool, but I personally would
not do it. I think the uses for medical, governmental, and corporation wise is
pretty handy. I would not put the printer computer in my house or utilize it
for convenience purposes. I rather see what other people can do with it and
than utilize the system or method of designing myself. I think it is better for
industrial uses and should stay that way. I think the industrial use being 95%
is smart and it should stay for a while being a 5% consumer use. I rather see
what the government can do with the concept and mess around with it, before I
get involved. I would love to see what the medical field can do with this technology
further and watch them incorporate it into their field. Watching people develop
new ways to build and create new inventions would honestly be very interesting
to me then using it for my own recreational purposes.

Too Much At One Time!
Multi-Tasking
is an art or a talent that comes from practice. I know the newer generations
are upcoming multi-taskers because of the new digital era that has swept upon us.
I was given the title of multi-tasker by the Pop Studio quiz. I received a 76
multi-tasking score, which did just meet the standard. I am not surprised since
I have always been able to do a bunch of projects, homework, or interactions
all at the same time. I usually am juggling my job as a Peer Mentor, running a
club, hanging out with friends, and homework all at the same time.
Our generation is going to be upcoming
multi-taskers because of how kids do their homework around TV’s or some type of
music. Also, kids are beginning to get used to texting, calling, talking,
watching television, and typing on the computer all at the same time. Focusing
has been a big problem noticed as well in kids. Their minds are constantly
bouncing around and all over the place. As a babysitter, I have noticed the
lack of concentration and easy boredom of a child. I could play with my Barbie dolls
for hours and be perfectly content. The newer generations play with their video
game, dolls, or each other and become bored in a matter of minutes. The health
hazard of kids developing ADD has been the upcoming question. I feel that kids
need to learn to focus and muti-task at the same time. I am a calm multi-tasker
and it takes a good amount of work to make me feel overwhelmed. I think maybe
if kids did have a period of time in the day where they slowed down with all
the digital technology and read a book, they might be a tad bit calmer.

Wearable Technology
Wearable
technology has become an upcoming trend in the 21st century. People
are starting to invest in products that represent the future technological advantages,
especially in the workplace. Inventions like the Apple watch, FitBit
wristbands, and Google glasses are starting to be integrated into work life.
Companies are creating new ways to communicate with their employees by
utilizing the new wave of technology. It creates a better and stronger
community based corporation and helps build morale with employees. The downside
with utilizing the new tech is that the older generations will fall behind. The
more “tech-savvy” corporations like Google, will have an advantage over older
firms, since they hire a younger and more informative staff. Older generation
billionaires have no idea how to work holograms or even something simple like a
SMART board. They are also not that open to hiring younger people into high-ranking
positions because they lack the experience and work ethic they built their
company on.
I personally am intrigued by the push of
technology in the workplace, but only the workplace. I would never use Google
glasses or an Apple Watch outside of it. I would also opt out of planting a
microchip inside of my hand in order to get into the building of the firm I was
working for. I’m not big on microchips especially inside my own skin and I feel
it is pushing the limit too far. I think technology utilized in a bio
perspective is incredibly smart. I heard of using holograms for Biology majors,
so they can get a “hands-on” approach to finding causes of heart attacks,
strokes, and blood clots. Also, the smart shirt is an invention for improving posture,
which is better then using a corset that most women are starting to resort back
to, even though it is used for more of a slimmer look. I am open to using
technology only in the workplace and in the medical felid. Outside of that, I
rather talk to my family than have a hologram in my face.

Get Off Your Phone And Love Me!
My
average phone use in a day is probably not that bad. I do not really go on my
phone, but I am on my laptop the majority of the day. I only really use my
phone to text my boyfriend or to go on Facebook, if I am completely bored. When
I talk to people, I put my phone down and have conversations because my parents
are big on not being distracted when someone is talking to you. I am the type
of person that gets annoyed when I am talking to someone about a story I am
telling and they ignore me entirely. I find it very rude and the majority of my
friends do that too, so I end up yelling at them a lot. I remember when my
friends and I went out to dinner and the people who touched their phones had to
pay and I ended up getting a free lunch. I really only use my phone to Google
information that I might not understand or think of and talk to my sister,
boyfriend, etc. I know my roommate gets distracted and is always on her phone
24/7. I always have to physically grab her phone or scream her name for her to
listen to me. I’m usually aware of my surroundings because I am never on my
phone, but she bumps into almost everything.
In the article, “Stop Googling. Let’s
Talk,” the author expressed the amount of college students that lack
conversational skills since they are on their phones all the time. I have
noticed that too in my fellow classmates. Every time I meet someone new and try
to get to know him or her, they immediately give me their “Snapchat” or
“Instagram” name, instead of just saying hello. Also when I have gone to
parties on campus, the majority of the crowd is on their phones and not even
enjoying the party. Also, public speaking is hard for a majority of my classmates
I have noticed as well. Being a business major, you have to be comfortable with
public speaking because the majority of us will be probably presenting some
sort of business venture in the future. I noticed that the students who tend to
stay on their phone most of the class, have problems presenting their project
or case study in class.
